The IELTS 9-band scale
Each band scale will represent a level of English competence. Every part of the test and Overall Band Score can be reported in whole and half bands, eg 6.0,7.5,8.0,8.5.

Band 6: Competent user: You have an effective command of the language despite some inaccuracies, in appropriacies, and misunderstandings. Generally, you use and understand fairly complex language, particularly in familiar situations.
Band 5: Modest user: You have partial command of the language, coping with overall meaning in most situations, though is likely to make many mistakes. Generally, you should be able to handle basic communication in own field.
Band 4: Limited user: Your basic competence is limited to familiar situations. But you have frequent problems in understanding and expression. Is not able to use complex language.
Band 3: Extremely limited user: You understands and conveys only general meaning in very familiar situations. But mostly frequent breakdowns in communication occur.
Band 2: Intermittent user: You face difficulty while understanding the spoken and written english. Here no real communication is possible except for the most basic information.
Band 1: Non-user: You don’t have any ability to use language except using of few isolated words.
